Wison and Black & Veatch in floating LNG pursuit

Release time:2013-04-12 Media sources:Upstream

Chinese engineering company Wison Group has extended its alliance with US contractor Black & Veatch in the liquefied natural gas industry by agreeing to jointly pursue offshore floating LNG projects.

Wison will be responsible for barge design and engineering, and overall project management, construction, delivery and financing.

Black & Veatch will provide the basic and detailed LNG plant designs, supply certain LNG equipment and components as well as provide commissioning services and process guarantees.

Their FLNG solution will use Black & Veatch’s patented PRICO liquefaction technology, the pair said.

The two companies are currently building a floating regasification vessel at Wison’s fabrication facility in Nantong, China. That vessel is being built for Exmar and will be used as a part of Pacific Rubiales Energy's La Creciente project in Colombia.

"The industry is awash with news about potential floating LNG facilities,” said Robert Germinder, vice president of Black & Veatch’s oil and gas business.

"Demand for cleaner, alternative fuel sources is not slowing. With the right technology and approach, production of LNG at sea can become a commercial reality.”
