Wison's Cracking Furnace Steel Construction of Dushanzi Petrochemical Ethylene Plant Won Steel Construction Gold Award

Release time:2009-05-11

Award for China Excellent Construction Projects 2008 (national-level high quality project) by China Construction Metal Structure Association. Meanwhile the project also won the Gold Steel Award for Shanghai Construction Metal Structure 2008 (Shanghai high quality project) given by Shanghai Metal Construction Association.

The award-winning project includes the steel structures for - 8 ethylene cracking furnaces with a unit production capacity of 150,000 tons/ year, pipe racks in front of furnaces, and the boiler water supply system. The eight vertical cabinet-type cracking furnaces use welding and high-strength bolt connections. Each furnace is 18.3 meters long, 12 meters wide, and 45 meters high. In total the project consumed over 12,000 tons of steel and 80,000 high strength bolts, making itself one of the biggest cracking furnace projects (in unit capacity) so far in China. During the construction, Wison closely cooperated with Chemical Project HQ of Dushanzi refinery, Qilu Petrochemical Ethylene Construction Supervision, China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corp., China Petroleum 6th Construction Company, SINOPC Ninbo Engineering Co., Ltd. and China Oilfield Construction (Steel Construction) Co., Ltd. Considering the difficulties and the characteristics of the project, Wison defined the quality goals, carried out all construction activities in compliance with various standards and codes, maintained full quality control and ensured construction safety. The steel construction project started on March 10, 2007 and was completed on November 10, 2008.

The Steel Construction Gold Award for China Excellent Construction Projects is a top honor for construction quality in the steel construction industry in China. The award is not only a highly positive recognition of Wison quality and its quality management system, but also an encouragement for Wison to pursue better product, service and business operation to meet and exceed customer needs.
